Lewis A. Remele, Jr. (“Lew”) is a well-respected litigator who has served as the firm’s chief executive officer.  He is a Harvard graduate (magna cum laude) and received his J.D. (cum laude) from Creighton University.

 

Lew is regarded as one of the leading lawyers in Minnesota, and was the top vote-getter in the annual Minnesota Super Lawyers list in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.  He was named as the 2009 and 2013 Minneapolis Bet-the-Company Litigator of the Year and 2012 Legal Malpractice Law – Defendants Lawyer of the Year by The Best Lawyers in America.  He is listed in Law and Leading Attorneys and Who’s Who in American Law.  Lew is recognized by the international research firm Chambers & Partners as a top business litigator.  In addition, he is included in the Minnesota Lawyer Circle of Excellence for being selected as an Attorney of the Year in 2007 and 2011.

 

Lew maintains a civil trial practice in both tort and commercial matters.  He represents insurance companies in personal injury and coverage cases, and corporate clients in diverse commercial suits including employment, contracts, securities, and professional and fiduciary claims, including directors’ and officers’ liability, class actions, shareholder disputes, debtor/creditor, antitrust, products liability, and trusts and estates litigation.

 

Lew has acted as a mediator and arbitrator in several hundred cases in all types of civil litigation.  Lew has been appointed numerous times as a Special Master in both state and federal courts, both as settlement master and as a master to assist the court in discovery and related issues.  Some of the most recent appointments include the Baycol litigation, assigned by the Multi-District Panel to The Honorable Michael Davis; the Soo Line Derailment litigation, assigned by Hennepin County District Court Judge Tony Leung; and the Blue Cross v. Glaxo litigation, venued in Ramsey County District Court.

 

Lew is past president of both the Minnesota State and Hennepin County Bar Associations, and the Academy of Court Appointed Special Masters.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the International Society of Barristers, the Academy of International Trial Lawyers, the American Board of Trial Advocates and the Litigation Counsel of America.  He also is a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
