Kimberlee Kovach
Kimberlee Kovach has been a leader and visionary in the modern mediation and dispute resolution movement for over thirty-five years. She is a prominent teacher, trainer, scholar and practitioner in the field of dispute resolution. Kovach was a founding officer and served as Chair of the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution. She also served as Chair of the ADR Sections of both the Texas and Houston Bar Associations.
Professor Kovach created and conducted the first mediation training in the state of Texas in 1980, and has continued to teach and train mediators around the globe. Kovach has worked with numerous judges, court systems, and private companies in the design and implementation of ADR programs and projects. She has completed service as the Chair of the Austin Municipal Civil Service Commission, and most recently served as Chair of the Texas local Global Pound Conference Series.
Kovach has taught a variety of ADR courses in legal education for over twenty-five years. She authored the first widely adopted mediation textbook, as well as the Nutshell on Mediation. She has also published numerous articles and book chapters on a variety of ADR topics, including several on ethical issues. Kovach has received several awards for her contributions to the field, including the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Academy of Mediators.
She currently serves as an independent arbitrator, mediator and trainer.
