Gail  M.  Wilson

AAA Labor Arbitrator
Detroit, MI

I have 30+ years of experience in labor-management relations including collective bargaining, unfair labor practices, mediation, grievance processing, and arbitration. I have represented Employers and Labor Organizations in both the public and private sectors.

My Human Resources Administrative experience includes preparation of comparable data for wages and benefits, drafting performance evaluation forms and policies, revising, and reviewing employee handbooks, and leading the Human Resources Department for multi-facility employers, in addition to standard employee relations issues involving documentation, discipline, performance management, attendance and job reviews. With my legal expertise I have represented clients in state and federal administrative hearings as well as state and federal judicial proceedings.

Combining my Human Resources, Labor and Employee Relations and legal expertise, I have served as a Labor-Management Relations Instructor for the University of Michigan since 2013.

My arbitration experience includes public sector (municipal, state, federal and education), and private sector (retail, manufacturing, industrial, healthcare, bakery/food/meat packing, and transportation). Arbitration issues presented for my review have included discipline, discharge, attendance, staffing reductions, minimal staffing levels, discrimination, and job assignments. arbitrability, contract interpretation/application, discrimination, fair share calculations, job bid/posting, management rights, overtime, scheduling of work, and wages.
